About Settilo

A note from Oleg, CEO

When I was house-hunting in a new place, I figured out fast: a listing can tell you everything about the house and almost nothing about the neighborhood. Forty photos of the kitchen, the floor plan, the age of the roof — but what the street looks like on a Tuesday evening, or whether you'd actually feel at home there, isn't in any listing. So I'd get in the car and drive the area in loops: yards, playgrounds, the parking lot outside the grocery store. Every house on my shortlist cost me hours of driving — and even then, all I had were impressions, not real answers.

Later, talking through business ideas with a friend, it turned out his team was already building exactly this — a service that pulls public data about neighborhoods from different sources and turns it into a clear picture of a place. I didn't need much convincing when he asked me to join. The problem they were solving was one I'd already spent hours driving around trying to solve myself.

Why this exists

You can find out the age of a house's roof before you buy it. Almost nothing about the block it sits on. Not because buyers don't care — the information exists, but it's spread across a dozen sources, or filtered through whoever's selling you the house.

Settilo pulls from named, verifiable sources — public and licensed — and puts it in front of you without an agenda. We don't list homes, and today, we don't take a cut when you buy one. Our business is showing you accurate numbers for the place, not steering you toward any particular one.

Behind the data

Settilo is built by a small team of engineers and data people — heads-down on the product, not out doing press. If you're reading this page, you've met the whole company that isn't a spreadsheet.

How we handle data

Every number on Settilo is tied to a named source, from the U.S. Census Bureau to OpenStreetMap to state and local agencies. Where a public dataset has gaps, our methodology explains how we fill them and how confident you should be in the result. See our Terms of Service for details on data accuracy and limitations.
